Saint Katharine Drexel School - Keeping Students Engaged in Faith and Discovery

SPRING 2026 CCS NEWSLETTER

St. Katharine Drexel School has been filled with faith, creativity, and community connection.

After the Christmas break, students and staff came together to celebrate Catholic Schools Week with the theme “Orbiting Around God’s Love.” Planet-themed dress-up days and activities reminded everyone of the vastness of God’s love, and the week was filled with laughter, learning, and fun.

In the classroom and beyond, students continued to engage with hands-on learning experiences. Fourth graders explored rocks and geology with a special visit from Don, one of our bus drivers, who shared his unique rock collection. January also brought the excitement of mini-sessions, where parents, teachers, and volunteers led students in baking, cross-stitch, karate, pillow-making, and playdoh creations. February marked I Love to Read Month, with families participating alongside students in reading The Very Very Far North, while school activities included trivia, themed dress-up days, and book-inspired games.

Service learning will resume in April after winter weather delays, with students visiting the Humane Society to read to animals and assisted living facilities to share stories, play board games, and spend time with residents.

Throughout Lent, classrooms reflect daily on symbols of the season using classroom crosses that help guide discussions about prayer, sacrifice, and love. In the weeks leading up to Easter, students are studying the Stations of the Cross. Our student council is also hosting a schoolwide food drive during Lent to show our support for our community.

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the St. Katharine Drexel Fish Fry on March 20 from 4:00–8:00 p.m.—an evening of delicious food, a bake sale, silent auction, meat raffle, book fair, and ice cream for all CCS families to enjoy.
