Tuition Assistance

We believe every family in central Minnesota should have access to the excellent Catholic education offered at Cathedral. That’s why we’ve committed to keeping a Cathedral education accessible. We do this by setting attainable tuition rates and offering additional support through tuition assistance.

Tuition assistance is made possible by generous supporters who value Catholic education and our mission and wish to make it affordable and accessible to all.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are a non-profit entity and tuition rates are determined by the Catholic Community Schools Board of Directors in collaboration with CCS staff and school leaders. Tuition rates reflect a portion of the total cost of education for each student in the school system.  Generous support from parishioners and individuals in our community helps to lower the tuition rate and also provides for further tuition assistance.

  • There is an enrollment fee which is applied towards your first tuition payment. The tuition assistance application held by FACTS, a trusted third-party processor, has a $35 processing fee. Additionally, some school courses may have material or trip fees, as clearly stated by each course description in the course catalogs.

  • All families are welcome to apply for tuition assistance. Many factors are considered when determining eligibility and assistance amount.

  • We assess and determine tuition assistance eligibility through the Grant and Aid application provided by FACTS. To apply you will need to set up a

    FACTS Grant and Aid

account. Once you have set up your account you can access the application, where you will be prompted to provide relevant financial information about your family as well as required documentation.

  • It is recommended to apply for tuition assistance at the same time or soon after applying for admission, and before the priority deadline*. For already enrolled families, if your financial situation suddenly changes, you may choose to apply or reapply accordingly.

*The priority deadline for 2024-2025 is February 1st. All applicants after this date will be evaluated case-by-case as funding allows.

  • FACTS is the secure, trusted third-party processor that provides our families with hassle-free tuition management plans, as well as their Grant and Aid application that helps us determine tuition assistance eligibility. FACTS has successfully served and benefited many CCS families since its implementation in 2021.

  • Our partnership with FACTS makes tuition management easy! After you set up an account, you will be given the option to choose a payment plan that fits your family’s needs, including paying once, quarterly, or in monthly increments. If you are awarded tuition assistance, it will be applied in your tuition payment plan.

  • The FACTS Grant and Aid application is used to collect relevant financial information, including number of enrolled students, financial obligations, assets and income, to calculate a family’s suggested tuition contribution. The CCS Tuition Office team uses this to determine the tuition assistance we are able to offer. The family is notified of our offer and given the option to accept or deny the level of assistance. If the family chooses to deny, they will be contacted to determine next steps and collect more information if needed.

  • The assistance amount is determined according to each family’s demonstrated need.  A typical CCS family’s tuition obligation will range from 40-80% of the total cost of education for each student.

  • If your family’s financial situation changes significantly from one year to the next, we encourage you to re-apply with up-to-date information so that we can better respond to your family’s needs.  If your student is moving from a CCS elementary school to Cathedral, it is recommended that you re-apply as well.

  • Your personal information, including payment information, is protected with the highest security standards in the industry. FACTS collects and assesses the relevant financial information in their online Grant and Aid application with complete confidentiality. FACTS shares a family’s suggested financial contribution to the CCS Tuition Office team in a protected portal. The information provided is used for no other purpose than determining a tuition assistance amount.

  • Families who have completed the FACTS Grant and Aid application and submitted all required documentation will typically receive an email from the CCS Finance Office within 30 business days.

  • No. All families regardless of religious affiliation are encouraged to apply if they have the need.

  • Tuition assistance is not rewarded strictly student by student, but considers the whole family. The FACTS Grant and Aid process accounts for the total number of enrolled students to determine the estimated family contribution towards tuition.

  • No. Admission applications and Grant and Aid applications are processed and evaluated separately.
