St. Katharine Drexel School – Advent Traditions, Gratitude & Community Life

Winter 2025 Newsletter

This season has centered on Advent traditions, gratitude, and joyful anticipation.

Community Life & Giving

The annual poinsettia sale brought festive cheer while supporting student needs. Students enjoyed December snow, playing outdoors bundled in winter gear before warming up together in school.

Faith & Celebration

Students reflected on Advent virtues—hope, peace, joy, and love—modeled by saints, and participated in the blessing of Advent wreaths. A visit from St. Nicholas reminded students of generosity, faith, and joyful giving.

Thanksgiving Reflections

Students and staff shared gratitude in a Thanksgiving reflection activity, appreciating the many blessings of the school community.

Community Partnerships & Bridge Builders

SKD welcomed education students from CSB/SJU, SCSU, and SCTCC to classrooms, enriching student learning. Community partners, including Olive Tree People, supported fundraising efforts.
Bridge Builders, a new mixed-age group activity, fostered connection and reflection on kindness, led by student council members.

We give thanks for a school community rooted in faith, generosity, and joyful learning.
