St. Joseph Catholic School - Stewardship in Action
SPRING 2026 CCS NEWSLETTER
The early months of 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic School have been filled with hands-on learning, joyful traditions, and meaningful opportunities for students to grow in faith and service.
The year began with a lively Catholic Schools Week, celebrated with the theme “Out of This World.” Students enjoyed themed days such as Dress Like a Planet Day, along with a virtual field trip to space, school bingo, and a Glow Party. The week ended with the beloved tradition of St. Joseph’s Got Talent. The week also included a special presentation from a St. Joseph alum who works with NASA supporting the International Space Station, inspiring students to dream big about their future paths.
In February, our brave fifth graders traveled to Deep Portage Learning Center for their environmental retreat, where they explored the outdoors through hands-on learning and developed leadership and teamwork skills.
Community partnerships brought exciting learning opportunities into the classroom. Students had the chance to experiment with coding and robotics through the C-STEM Lending Library, presented by the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence in partnership with the University of St. Thomas School of Engineering. Representatives from Stearns Electric Association visited to share engaging demonstrations about energy. In February, sophomore nursing students from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University led health lessons and activities, an experience that benefited both the college students and our young learners.
Faith in action remains at the heart of St. Joseph Catholic School. In religion class, fifth graders studied the meaning of stewardship—returning to God the first fruits of our time, talent, and treasure. Inspired by this lesson, they organized a series of bake sales beginning in January, raising more than $1,000 to support Kids Fighting Hunger and the St. Joseph Community Food Shelf.
During Lent, these lessons in stewardship take on even deeper meaning. Students gather each week for prayer services and the Stations of the Cross, reflecting on how they are called to serve others with compassion and generosity. On Holy Thursday, students will participate in a Seder Meal to learn about the Israelites’ journey from slavery to freedom. Students are invited to wear pink or red to represent the heart, reminding us that God’s love is at the center of our faith and that we are called to show that love through kindness and care for others.
St. Joseph Catholic School’s Fish Fry and Meat Raffle will be held on March 27 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Sal’s Bar & Grill. Join us to enjoy a delicious meal while supporting our school!
