Professional Development News: Summer 2026
Summer 2026 CCS NewsletterNCEA Convention and Expo
In April, teachers from CCS had the wonderful opportunity to attend the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) Convention and Expo, the nation’s largest Catholic education conference held annually. This event brings together Catholic and other religious educators from across the U.S., Canada, and other countries to exchange ideas and debut cutting-edge research and technologies related to education. The day featured two inspiring general sessions and more than 170 professional development opportunities focused on Forming Our Future, Collaborative Leadership, Instructional Excellence, Meeting the Needs of All Students, and Nurturing the Whole Child. Teachers and principals also had the chance to connect directly with vendors and suppliers to explore innovative products, resources, and services that can further enhance learning in our schools.
This year’s convention was held in Minneapolis, allowing many CCS educators to attend and benefit from the support and resources shared. Attendees left feeling inspired and connected with religious educators from across the country and more. We’re grateful to be a part of the teaching mission of the Catholic Church.
“NCEA supported my professional learning and growth but also was inspiring spiritually and personally as well. Not only did we learn new strategies and approaches, but we spent time together as a school and system. The impact of this conference will be carried on in the school because of the knowledge we obtained and through our deeper connections made with God and each other.” - CCS elementary teacher
“When we give students real opportunities to lead through service, prayer, and community, they begin to see themselves as witnesses to Christ in their everyday lives. I came away from the NCEA conference inspired to create more spaces where our students don’t just participate in their faith, but joyfully live it and lead others in it.” - CCS high school teacher
LETRS Certification:
Over the past three years, our kindergarten through fifth grade teachers have earned certification in Lexia LETRS® Professional Learning (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). This rigorous two-year training provides educators with a deep understanding of the science of reading and equips them with research-based strategies to strengthen literacy instruction for all students. Through countless hours of learning after school and on weekends, our teachers embraced the challenge with dedication and professionalism. Their commitment has strengthened classroom practice and helps ensure every child is equipped with the skills needed to become a confident, successful reader.
