Cathedral School–Celebrating Faith and Community
First Mass
The first Mass of the school year on September 10 was a beautiful celebration, as the Cathedral community joined Catholics around the world in honoring the canonization of Saints Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati.
Carlo Acutis, who died at 15 in 2006, was named Cathedral’s Patron Saint last year. Known for his deep love of the Eucharist, Carlo inspired students and staff to approach Eucharistic Adoration with reverence and openness, allowing it to transform hearts and reveal Christ in daily life. Celebrating his canonization was a meaningful way to begin the school year.
This year, the school is learning about a new patron, Blessed Chiara Badano, who also died young and lived her faith with joy and courage. Like Carlo, her life reminds us that young people can live their faith in powerful ways.
In moments of shared worship, it becomes clear that faith invites us to embrace what is holy and good—even amidst the challenges and struggles of the world around us.
Eagle Scout Project Brings New Life to School Courtyard
Over the summer, Cathedral’s Roger Craven ’27 completed his Eagle Scout project, giving a wonderful gift to the school community by transforming an unused courtyard into a welcoming outdoor space for students and staff.
With vision, planning, and leadership, Roger guided every part of the project—from pouring the concrete pad for new picnic tables to planting two lilac trees and a blue spruce. With support from his Scout team, family, friends, and local community members, the project was completed after seven months and more than 200 hours of work.
The Cathedral community is deeply grateful for Roger’s commitment and hard work, and excited that this beautiful new space will now serve as a vibrant place for students and staff to gather, study, and enjoy the outdoors.
