A Legacy of Kindness Continues at All Saints Academy

All Saints Academy is off to a joyful start to the new school year! Students have quickly settled back into the rhythms of learning, growing, laughing, serving, and supporting one another. From the first days back in the classroom, their energy and enthusiasm have been a wonderful reminder of what makes the ASA community so special.

That spirit of community was evident before the school year even officially began. After completing their own first day at Cathedral, a group of recent ASA graduates returned to their alma mater to decorate and help welcome the next generation of Saints—a beautiful example of the values they learned at ASA: serve willingly, care deeply, share generously, and speak kindly.

As a new school year begins, those same values of kindness, leadership, mentorship, and service continue to be passed from one generation of Saints to the next. One of the special ways students put them into practice is through Ellie’s Army.

Ellie’s Army was established to honor and remember the beautiful spirit of Ellie Sovada, whose life was a model of kindness and love for others. Inspired by her classmates, Ellie’s Army started in 2014, and with the support of Ellie’s parents, our team has been blessed to build a program that keeps her legacy alive by helping students discover what it means to be servant leaders.

Members of Ellie’s Army are asked to be role models and willing workers who step up wherever they are needed. They help set up and take down school events, play with and mentor younger students at recess, and take the lead on service projects throughout the year. From making tie prayer blankets to baking and assembling goody bags for veterans, these students learn that even simple acts of service can make a meaningful difference.

At the heart of Ellie’s Army are responsibility, encouraging others, showing respect, taking pride in our school, and—most importantly—sharing our love for Jesus through the way we treat and serve others.

Our newest crew of student leaders has now been trained and is ready to serve! We are excited to watch them grow as leaders while continuing a legacy that has become part of the fabric of All Saints Academy.

We are grateful for Ellie’s parents and their continued partnership, and we are blessed to have Ellie as our angel, watching over the work of her Army as they spread kindness, serve others, and lead by example.

Welcome to our New Hires

Please help us welcome Sabrina, Jean, and Cori to our ASA family! We are blessed to have each of them as part of our school community. Also a heartfelt thank-you to all of our dedicated staff for leading our students in the Crusader Way each and every day! 

Mrs. Cori Simones joins our third-grade team after spending her entire career in Catholic education. Most recently, she served as Campus Minister at Cathedral High School. Cori has a special connection to All Saints Academy—she attended ASA as a student and later chose to send her own children here. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome her home as an alumni!

Ms. Jean Reum is leading our fabulous first-grade class. Jean brings a wealth of teaching experience and previously taught at Holy Family Catholic School in Albany, where she also raised her family. We are so grateful to have her experience, dedication, and heart in our first-grade classroom!

Ms. Sabrina Bechtold joined our team this summer and worked alongside Mr. Tommy to prepare our school for a wonderful year. Thanks to their hard work, our building is sparkling! Sabrina will serve as our custodian and lunchroom monitor.
